Abstract


OPINIONS OF THE CLASS TEACHERS ON PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS’ WRITING PACE
Besides having a correct and aesthetical writing skill, students in primary school are expected to show a quick and appealing writing performance. That the students show a hand writing pace appropriate their class level is important in many ways. Should this skill is not acquired in time, this arises as a writing problem in front us later. It was aimed in this study to find out what the primary school teachers’ opinions about the writing pace are. The data were collected via a semi-constructed interview form developed by the researchers.The study group consisted of 32 class teachers on duty in three counties (Erdemli, Toroslar and Gülnar) in Mersin province in 2015 – 2016 academic year. Volunteer teachers in the schools chosen by simple random sampling took part in the study. The data collected were analyzed by using descriptive analysis method. It was found in the study that the teachers find their students’ writing pace important, that the students should have an average writing pace, and the teachers underlined that they have their students dictate more in order to increase their writing pace.
